Why is our federal government both past and present not supporting innovation in Nigeria?

from my observation I have noticed that we have millions of talented people in Nigeria that have different technological/research idea but it end up wasting because of there are not been supported financially we only depend in America for everything, why is things the way it is?

because we are dependent in foreigner for technological equipment so our government feels that it is not important.

Because they feel the one's from outside the country especially from America and China are the best and nothing good the youth of this country can produce..

well from my observation I have noticed that we have millions of talented people in Nigeria that have different technological/research ideas but it end up wasting because of no financial support and when this leaders have the opportunities they use it for there own selfish use

I will not completely agree that the government does not support innovations... I believe that the government has different programs that supports innovations but the problem is with the persons saddled with the responsibility to ensure that innovations are brought to the fore and encouraged. They see nothing good in an innovation if it doesn't bring direct benefits to their pockets... In summary corruption is the main problem.

in Nigeria generally, i've noticed we are so comfortable with doing this the old way. so when a new innovation comes, there is atendency to feel that it won't work better. so the idea is kicked out

Our country is bedeviled with individuals who sucks from the ills of the society. Those who should provide electricity are the ones selling generators, those who should be stopping insurgency are in charge of arm deals. Those who should enforce contracts are the one taking kickbacks. The system is laid down on a manual background. How will innovation thrive?
