How Much Are The Human Organs Sold In The Red Market?

The Red Market - The Organ Market Where Organs Are Been Sold - How Much You Are Worth On The Organ Market?
- As Researched, Analyzed And Documented By Ogundimu Samuel Olajide - Sources In Footnotes.
..........................................................................................
*
Imagine waking up in a bathtub, you are submerged in ice, you have a 20 inch long scar around your torso, you have the feeling that you are not complete... Then, you might have been harvested. Organ theft is a very lucrative red market trade - this is the theft or illegal sales of body parts by certain brokers (brokers are the middlemen for the buyer and the seller of the body part - sometimes it is outright theft).
*
What is the Red Market? - The Red Market refers to the trade of human flesh and blood through racketeering, human traficking, organ selling (either consensual or forcefully). The Red Market is different from the Black Market, The Grey and the White Market...
-
The black market is the illegal trading of PRODUCTS, GOODS and SERVICES. There is no check by the government and no tax levied.
- the grey market is a trade where the goods are legal and original but it is not been sold by the orginal owners or through any recognized chain of distribution.
-
the white market is the legal, official, and authorized market where everything is according to laid down rules and regulations.
-
the red market is the world market for human organ brokers, bone thieves, blood farmers and child traffickers.

Everywhere around the world, if you need an organ transplantation ( removing an internal organ of a donor for another person who's similar organ is ailing), you wait patiently till you meet a donor (someone willing to give you their organ). However, there might be no time since the clock is tickling and the recipient might want to take any other means to get the organ. (In the US, you have to wait for a person who just died and have volunteered to donate an organ in any of their document -you can also wait for a family member to donate theirs). Many people rely on the red market to get the needed organ illegally so as to save the life of the recipients.
*
The Sellers - those who sell their organs or whose organs are been harvested are usually the teenagers in human trafficking, the immigrants who are been promised jobs in stable countries, the marginalized, impoverished who easily fall prey to ruthless criminal organizations (or even government) - the truth is that if you are willing to buy an organ, then you must be willing to exploit the poor. However, some people voluntarily accepted that their organs be detached for the use of another, some convicted persons on death row might release his organs as penance of sort. After the transplant, most seller's health deteriorate, some get handicapped and are unable to live long.
*
The Buyers - also known as the brokers, these are the middlemen between those willing to buy an organ and those whose organ is to be harvested, they might be involved in the direct harvesting or get people to do the job - there are about 10,000 body parts sells done in a year - and a body part is been sold every hour. Those harvesting illegally are usually brutal, tortious and deadly - some of which are captured here
- ISIS - the terror group kidnap victims, harvest their organs to treat their maimed jihadist - infact, they have a captives who are kept like living blood and organ banks, some prisoners are been harvested slowly, they keep them alive after removing an organ so as to remove another when it's time without anesthesia

- India - it is no strange thing for a person to wake up in India and find out that their organ is been harvested. There was a popular story of Mr khan who woke up to see a man stitching him up, told him his kidney has been harvested and threatened him not to tell anyone. Within 24 hours, the area had been vacated and the police couldn't trace him.

- Snatching Organs In The Sinai Desert - there was a CNN documentary called "death in the desert" that detailed immigrants around the sinai desert been rounded up and sold into the red market by the bedouin tribes. Surgeons from Cairo, Egypt would travel down to buy the organs.

- Migrant Workers In Qatar - immigrant workers in Qatar are been treated like slaves and work condition had claimed more than 1000 lives . Sri Rabitah from indonesia remembered been rushed down to an hospital although she suffered no ailment, she was sedated, and she woke up to find her organs harvested, and she was sent back as her mada "gada" deemed her "unfit to work."
The Recipient - according to the US Dept of health and human services, there were as of D june 2013, 118,226 candidates waiting for organs but only 3, 412 registered donors as of march that year. In 2010, 106, 879 organs were transplanted in 95 states, but it only satisfied 10% of the actual needs according to WHO ( World Health Organization). Infact the need for transplantation had increased by 236%, making 18 people likely to die while waiting for an organ in the US... Do you see the reason for the desperation?
*
Government - the WHO estimated that there are about 12 countries involved in organ-trafficking network. Organ trafficking/sale is illegal in every country except Iran which places some minor limitations on it. In the US, there are certain laws that guard organ transplant like the National Organ Transplant. Act, the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act of 1987 and the "Final Rule". China has the Human Transplantation Act while South Africa had the Human Tissue Act of 1983. There are universal laws against organ trade, such as the World Medical Authority 1985 and the Council od Europe's Convention on Human Righs and Biomedicine of 1997. Financial Integrity estimated that the illegal organ trade generates profits between $600 million - $1.2 billion per year. The first transplant was in 1954
*
*
Patterns Of Organ Trafficking - organs harvested are stored in ice or mobile refrigerators, this helps in moving it around for a long period. The donor can also travel down to the recipient state, vice versa, but most times, the broker secures the deal.
*
How Brokers Get Their Organs - the brokers usually buy organs through consent, deception, coercion and exploitation. Persons are been killed, sold and kidnapped for organs - brokers target the poor and vulnerable, negotiate with them and pay them from $3, 200 - $5000 dollars but in actual price, they might profit up to $160,000 - $ 200, 000. Hospitals, sometimes take part in the illegal sale, in 1997, a woman from brazil had an operation to remove her ovarian cyst, and the hospital ended up removing her kidney, and gave her excuse that her kidney was wrapped up in the cyst hence the removal.

*
How Much Are You Worth - In October 2007, a brooklyn man admitted to brokering a kidney sale between israeli donors and New Jersey recipients. He made a whooping sum of $410,000 (#125,050,000). Journalist Scott Carney figures a person is worth $250,000 if brokered and sold on the red market. It depends on your negotiating price and knowledge about the operation, an indian woman once sold her kidney for a meagre sum of $1000.
-
A kidney goes for about $2,000- $4,000, but you are your own broker, you can make up to $160,000 - however,
-
in iran, a donor pays an $1,200 for kidney ( we should note that the kidney is the most lucrative part of the human internal organ).
-
In phillippines, you get roughly $25,000 for the kidney but the government banned the sale in 2008, hence the illegal trade increased the costs to about $30,000 to $35,000.
-
The liver goes for as much as $4,000-$157,000 ( livers are not really expensive like the kidney due to the fact that livers are regenerative, making liver donations non-fatal and donors recover fast.
-
Cornea ($24,400), unfertilized eggs ($12,400), blood ($25-$337), skin ($10), bones/ligaments (5,465). The prices might be more than that but it depends on the urgency of the transplant, the pocket of the recipient and the bargaining power of the broker.
- the human hair which is also know as the black gold is very lucrative in the organ market, it is estimated around $900 million. Many people go to the temple ( shrines like the Sri Tirumala temple in southern asia where people give their hair to lord vishnu as a sign of humility) to shave their hair, it is been swept and thrown into giant steels vats where it is combed, sorted out and sold at autions, then shipped to international markets where it is been reduced to extensions or amino acids called L-cystine which is used as a leavining agent in baking goods.
-
The Cato institutes actually believes that there is no shortage of organs, but rather a surplus of "excess and wasted" organs. Scarcity only exists for the poor who cannot afford. Approximately 6,000 people die yearly waiting for a transplant organ due to funds.
*
Who To Call When You Want To Sell An Organ - in Italy, you can call Dr. ABM Eyahia between 10 a.m. And 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. And 8.30 p.m. On 8116010 (chamber)
- in Germany, you can call 00492203358922 between 2 p.m. And 1 a.m.

*
The effects of organ trafficking on donors - most donors are tricked into selling their kidneys, they are told that their other kidney is inactive, sleeping or just a baggage. After the kidney is been sold, the donor's health might deteriorate, the other kidney mights also start to malfunction. In islam, self mutilation is a taboo, so for jehovah witnesses, this makes some of the donor so sober and disgraced after the operation and they might not be able to face the public after that. Organ sales have done a lot of damage to the sellers and their families, and it only benefits the rich, and most especially, the broker, as whatever happens to the donor is no concern of the broker after taking his own profit. Hence, when you need an organ, it is better to choose someone you know, someone you love, don't destroy someone else's life because you want to stay alive, remember you can't put a price on life, life has no duplicate.
