ASUU has said that the strike continues for now. This was after the meeting with the Federal Government yesterday. ASUU plans to go back to discuss with its members so they can put heads together and know the way forward. They also added that they would schedule another meeting with the FG. The important thing to note here is that ASUU is not asking for #50 billion. They are asking the FG to release at least #50 billion that is owed them. A lot of students have unleashed a torrent of abuses on them on social media as their frustration has obviously reached an all-time high .
The last meeting between the FG and ASUU representatives held on Monday 21/01/29. And at the end of the meeting, ASUU holds that although there have been some progress, there are still grey areas that needs to be attended to. The ASUU President said there will be a consultation amongst ASUU members to decide their take on the Government's proposal (which wasn't made known to the public). ASUU insists that the FG must show commitment before the industrial action can be suspended. The FG is expected to pay a minimum of 50billion before the strike as a sign of seriousness to the course of revitalization of the Universities.
ASUU says there will be another meeting with the FG after its consultation. You can follow @ASUUNGR for more details
