Well, my interesting encounter with the police happened when I was in my final year in the University. I was in my hostel with my friend, who planned to spend the night like he did sometimes. All of a sudden, a beam of light appeared out of nowhere, shining directly into the room (this was between 8-9pm). We heard movement and a gruff voice told us to open the door. Naturally, we assumed it was robbers. As if reading our thoughts, they said they were policemen. By this time, my friend was so scared he was almost out of his mind with fear. I didn't want to open the door but something told me that if they broke through, we would be in so much trouble. As I made my way to the door, my friend signalled me not to but I ignored him. My thinking then was that if I was wrong and they were robbers, we would be in for one horrible night. If they were policemen, well only God knew. So, I opened the door and as they shone their light on my face, I recognized the uniformed policemen. Instantly, a wave of relief washed through me and they came into the room. As it turned out, they were looking for some bad boys around and they said if we didn't give them valuable information, we would be locked up in a cell. I decided there and then that wasn't going to happen to me. I would escape before they knew what I planned to do. My wonderful pal was literally shaking by now and giving useless info. To summarize the whole story, I calmly explained to them that we didn't have the information they needed and seeing that I wasn't to be intimidated, they left. I turned to my friend and we both had a really good laugh!
